The impact of the coronavirus crisis could be felt in early April in the German market for light-weight kraft papers.
On the whole, operating levels of paper mills and the converting industry were still said to be high. However, industry sources told EUWID that demand was powered almost exclusively by the food industry and food retailers. In particular, the market was driven by discounters’ demand for lightweight kraft paper that is use to make bakers’ and butchers’ bags.
The market situation mainly benefited the brown kraft paper segment, where demand was higher than for white grades, market sources reported.
